RESEARCH - CONVENTIONS OF MEDIA VIDEOS (3/3)

What Genre is the music and how is this reflected in the video?

This song is classified as pop. The pop genre is represented in the video through the bright colours, cartoon writing, and the happy feel to the video.
How do the images relate to the lyrics?

The images relate to the music as the video shows her danicng throughout, whilst she sings about how her life is carefree, and about partying in the summer.

How do the images relate to the music?

The music is very upbeat so the editing is quite fast paced. it is edited to the beat, so the dance she is doing fits to the tempo of the music
How is the artist presented to sell them?

The only person in the video is Zara Larsson, and there is no narrative. This is because this is her breakthrough song, so tries to focus the video on herself as a way of self promotion.
Is there any reference to 'looking'? Are females presented voyeuristically?

The whole video is very voyeuristic as it is watching her dance. Linking to he lyrics of partying in the summer, the whole video includes a large voyeuristic element.

Can you spot any intertextual references?

There aren't any, as it is only her dancing

Comments on Camerawork, editing, mise-en-scene, special effects, sound.

The camera doesn't move throughout the video, and it is pretty much the same angle the whole way through. this is in order to focus on her dancing, which may be taken away from with lots of fast paced cuts to many different angles.
The special effects of the multiple versions of her dancing in different colours make the video a lot more colourful, which links to the lyrics of enjoying summer.

Is there a narrative? How is the video organised and structured?

There is no narrative, the whole video is of performance shots.
